Treatments are recommended every 3 months for the first year. After using Botulinum Toxin A for some time, treatments can be delayed to every 4-6 months.

Pride Health Clinic proudly offers Dermal Filler. Dermal Filler is an FDA approved product that features the consistency of a smooth gel and is composed of pure hyaluronic acid that is naturally produced by the human body. At Pride Health Clinic, we are currently offering this service for the lip / mouth area only. We currently use JUVÉDERM® ULTRA XC. This filler is designed to be used in the lips and should last for 6 months to 1 year. While we want everyone to get their lips done with us, if you are going elsewhere, be sure to ask what brand they use. Some brands do not last as long as others.

Downtime: Expect your lips to be stiff/sore for a few days. Lips will not be completely healed for 2 weeks. Do not schedule lips if you have an event in less than 2 weeks.

In order to minimize the risk of possible side effect and complications, please follow these steps:

BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT:

Do NOT consume alcoholic beverages at least 24 hours prior to treatment (alcohol may thin the blood and increase the risk of bruising)
Avoid anti-inflammatory/blood thinning medications, if possible for a period of 2 weeks before treatment. Medications and supplements such as aspirin, vitamin E, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, St. John’s Wort, Omega 3/Fish Oil supplements, Ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil, Aleve and other NSAIDS have a blood thinning effect and can increase the risk of bruising and swelling after injections.
Schedule your appointment at least 2 weeks prior to a special event which you may be attending, such as a wedding or a vacation. Results from the Dermal Filler and Botulinum Toxin A injections will take approximately 4 to 14 days to appear. Also bruising and swelling may be apparent in that time period.
Discontinue Retin-A 2 days before and 2 days after treatment.
Avoid waxing, bleaching, tweezing, or the use of hair removal creams in the area(s) to be treated.
Take Tylenol® (if not contraindicated) 1 hour prior to your appointment to help with any discomfort you may have, if you have concerns about discomfort.
If you have any history of Herpes Simplex (cold sores) on your face, make sure you inform the doctor that you have made your appointment with, one week prior to your appointment; this will allow us adequate time to prescribe a medication to prevent an outbreak.
Sunburn skin is difficult to treat so avoid exposure to the sun.
Come to your appointment with a clean face. **This means NO MAKEUP or MOISTURIZER**
Reschedule your appointment at least 24 hours in advance if you have a rash, cold sore or blemish on the area.
Be sure to have a good meal, including food and drink before your procedure. This will decrease the chances of becoming lightheaded during your treatment.
You are not a candidate if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Dermal Filler Additional steps:

Avoid dental procedures (including cleaning) 2 weeks pre filler and 2 weeks post filler
Bruising and swelling will be worse for the first 24-48 hours after you receive your dermal filler injections. Refrain from exercising for the remainder of the day following your injection(s). You may want to refrain from going to any special events during this time.
